Journal Philippines Home - Journal PhilippinesThis is me on my second return to the Philippines after having my wife in the USA for almost 3 years. On my right is my nephew, my immediate left , my niece and to my far left is my sister in law Journal Philippines Home - Journal PhilippinesMY Mother and me when she was alive.Journal Philippines Home - Journal Philippines Fall in Love Philippines This is my beautiful Filipino wife, Jennifer or as i call her Jen-Jen. She is the light of my life, the reason for my happiness along with her family, extended family and neighbors. So first I would like to personally welcome all or any of you who find me on the web. My purpose in creating this site is to share with others who may be interested in finding both a wonderful Filipino wife, or just to retire to a paradise Island and live fairly well on a 1000.00 dollars a month, just how that can be done.
My wife and I live on the large Island of Mindanao,Agusan del Sur , Bayugan City. So it is you the visitors that I asked you to help me on this living breathing adventure into the life of a 61 year old Vietnam Combat Veteran, who has found both happiness and a way of life that I could not have had in the USA, but find it here. Now before you pack your bags to come, lets slow down just a little and let you possibly learn from my mistakes i made along the way in getting where I am today. I stated you could live here on 1000.00 dollars a month, and yes you can, and I know many who do, now that may mean they don't have fully centralized Air Condition, or a 6 bedroom house with a Kio pond and swimming pool, but if they can learn to adapt to the culture here, adjust their lifestyle a little they can do just that.

Do I live on that kind of money NO my pensions are more than that, and I am one who believes in the theory when you marry a Filipino you marry her family also, so it takes me more money than a single guy coming here just looking to rent a room and visit the local night life every night where I am sure they can find "anything they want"...and sometimes as in any country maybe some things you don't want. This is going to be a living breathing journal of sorts, where hopefully with your comments, knowledge of your experiences you and I can make this page as friendly and productive as any on the web. Along the way i will attempt to show you...just how to find the right Filipino for you in case your plans are for marrying a young beautiful lady and retiring here, but I wont forget the young ones who have found someone they are now chatting with, and due to it isn't time to retire , they need to bring the wife to the USA or any Foreign Country so you will need all the help i can offer about the Visa Process and how to get through it with the least amount of stress.

You will learn here about the Filipino Culture, their lifestyles, their customs, their traditions, their beliefs, their pride. Filipinos are a very proud people and well should be., Along with your help we can add to this site and make it one of the friendliest on the web. You will be told everything, from how to get here, what planes are the cheapest or for the first class people the ones who offer the most in service. You will be given places to stay when you get here, you will be given an approximate cost of living broken down by categories, so you can figure out how much money you need to budget. If you are the kind of person who is patients doesn't mind waiting in line with 100's of other people to pay 10.00 dollars to get your copy of your marriage certificate, then your fine...but for me, I have absolutely no need nor want to spend hours standing waiting for some government official to stamp a piece of paper for me when i can "grease" his hand with a few pesos and he takes my paper work upstairs gets it stamped and I am on my way.

Now I know what you must be thinking , I am only adding to the problem, your right of course, but notice I did not say my way was the right way, only the way I get things done.. For clarification, anything I say on here is based solely on my opinion of how i get things accomplished in the RP. It is by no means saying you should do it that way, I am only giving an opinion that everyone should take with a grain of salt. I will add this, my yes always means yes, and my no always means no, I am tough due to my military background but a big pussycat inside. If you ask me a question I don’t have the answer to, i will not fake one for you, but will do my best through my resources to get you the correct answer as soon as possible. This is just day one of this site, so I won't have much content yet, but please be patient and I promise you a panoramic view of the land of Paradise.

Now lets clear up the word Paradise, the Philippines is made up of over 7000 some islands, there are places of majestic beauty like you never saw before, giant coral reefs some never explored with scuba gear, pristine white beaches with some of the best surfing spots in the world. But as with any country, there is a much darker and gritty side to the RP that we sometimes try to ignore. We have an unemployment rate here nearing 80 %, we have drugs, prostitution , the sex trade that plays on our young on the Internet about working in a foreign country with a visa already approved and then when they go there, they are put in hoses 24/7 to serve the needs of the sick and depraved sex addicts.

It's my paradise though, even with its ugly side, you want to see ugly go into the subway tunnels of New York City and you will be shocked beyond belief. So in closing I would like to add a couple more picture of some of my nieces and neighbors taking part in what they call the Sinulog Festival. Come back soon and often...this is the beginning of a wonderful living Journal where you can add your own pictures , share your own story as long as it is about the Philippines and you can even edit my own articles if you find them not up to your standards.
